Ribbons and vintage and lace, oh my!

As happy as I am with the clean, simple aesthetic for our wedding... every so often, the frilly romantic in me comes out.

I'll be honest, I love Taylor Swift. And she can rock the romantic look like no other.

Normally, I don't dig the details/overall look of frilly weddings (and Mr. SB sure wouldn't be into loads of pink and lace and girly details). But! Drooool...... over this one from StyleMePretty.

If I had the opportunity to do a second wedding (to the same wonderful fella, natch), it would look a little something like that. Or exactly like that.

If you got multiple takes of your wedding, would it look the same... or completely different?

Trying to gather it all together...

Fairly early on in my wedding planning, I made a very dense (er, like, 25 pictures on one powerpoint slide) inspiration board with absolutely no record of where I got the pictures from. Oops. Well, it's fine for bringing to vendors or working on ideas, but not so fine for blogging.

So now, as an experienced bride-to-be, I made another one and have discovered that I *still* want to put way too many pictures on a given board. (Those folks at Style Me Pretty make it look so easy!) It kind of took forever, but I'm happy with the result.

Some of it is still not quite *right*, but having an inspiration board makes me feel better. (In particular, I have an inspiration bouquet that I can't find a digital photo of. When I get around to scanning it in, I'll update the board.) But I think this definitely reflects the natural, unfussy, elegant and traditional, but not dated or overly formal feel that we're going for. In green, yellow, & white. While this is an "overall" look, I like the idea of multiple inspiration boards: one for flowers, hair, etc. Those are a work in progress.

How many revisions did your inspiration board(s) undergo? How closely did it reflect your overall wedding in the end?

Colors, take two...

Talking with a potential photographer, we discovered that green & white sometimes look washed out in photos. Beautiful and natural, yes, but also missing a little pop of "something." Around mid-March in wine country, the mustard flowers are in bloom. The vines haven't grown leaves or grapes yet, but the grass below them turns into a yellow sea. Our winery won't have much mustard, but the surrounding area will. This photographer takes some beautiful pictures of this time of year.

These pictures steered me in the direction of yellow, but since my family lives near Green Bay, Wisconsin (and are huge Packers fans), I was leery of suggesting "green & yellow" in any cheese-y manner. So I set out to find some more inspiration. Thank you theknot.com :)

Based on these ideas, I'm happy to move forward with green, white, and yellow... and a little nod to my Wisconsin roots.
Did any of your ideas seem unlikely at first, but make sense the more you worked with them?

Colors...

Left to my own devices, it's possible my wedding would have one of three looks:

Black, white, & yellow -- super sleek
Every bright & pastel color under the sun -- we're getting married in spring, why not celebrate flowers!
Green, white, brown -- simple, elegant, reflective of nature

Thankfully, Mr. SB helps keep me focused. Our wedding ceremony will be outside (*weather permitting) surrounded by green hills & fields in the gorgeous California countryside. I'm pretty darn traditional at heart and love all things white & wedding related. And incidentally, green is both Mr. SB & my favorite color (and my eye color :). So our decision was actually quite easy: Green & white it is.

Was your color decision a long process? Or did it just make sense?
