Necklace or no?

I wasn't planning on wearing a necklace w/ my main dress bc... well... I just wasn't. But then..... along came etsy.

Oh, you're a pretty little set... pearls AND crystals, like my trim. And my neck/upper chest has been looking long lately.. And people WILL be looking at my hands all night, maybe a bracelet IS a good idea. And it's all for $60.

I ordered my garter a while back. I'm happy with it... it's not a huge part of my day, but in a surprise turn, apparently I ordered two! So I guess the idea is you have one "real" one that you .. keep?.. and use/wear again...? And then there's another one to toss that looks similar but less fancy. We're not even throwing one.. and I can't honestly ever see myself wearing a garter in the future, but whatever.

So I've got two. Cool.

I've had good luck online with various forms of notecards, business cards, etc. So I headed to the uber-extensive Vistaprint.com to make some thank you notes.

After forever and a half of browsing, I chose two options and Mr. SB voted for this one.

Cute little heart on the inside.

But dang it! Lame cakes! That little www.vistaprint.com on the back drives me NUTS! How did I not click the "pay more to erase that" option! Bummer!

Hopefully, no one looks at the back flap if the message is all contained on the inside, right??

How tacky is the vistaprint logo? Should I look for a sticker to cover it or something?

Shapewear making the lines WORSE

So, as evidenced in the first pics I need some shape wear with the satin dress. No way I'm spending th $50+ on Spanx, so I headed to Target for their version... which seemed reasonable enough.

ASSETS pantyhose. Sheer, smooth, right?

From afar... not too bad. (*Same night with the crummy camera situation.)

Not too bad, again. Oh, and that's my veil, by the way. :)

BUT

With good posture, the tummy line is visible...

And with bad posture it's awful!! Way to do the OPPOSITE of your job, nylons!

On a side note, they make my feet slip out of my shoes too, so I'm thinking this might be a $12 loss.

I need suggestions for another (affordable) attempt at shapewear!! Are just control top nylons sufficient??

Dress shopping

Ok, so I was kind of looking for an excuse to go shopping.. so I decided I needed a new dress for my rehearsal!

Apparently, my taste &/or budget are not in line with current fashion. It was a long and painful afternoon in SF.. but we emerged successful!

Strong contender, I almost settled for it... but the sizing wasn't quite right. And now looking at the model... holy short dress! BCBGeneration at Macy's.

I was struggling with these mirror photos today... but I love it. Cute, casual, and comfy! And with pockets!

Thanks, Target, for yet another great shoe find!

No room for dancing!

I was stressing about this topic pretty hard last week. I think it's mostly resolved now...

Actually it was the first picture I liked when I googled "dance."

Our reception space is just big enough for our dinner tables, and when we booked the space we were told that we'd have to break down tables for dancing space. Everyone made it sound fine and dandy and like everybody did that. But now thinking about it more concretely, the logistics are yucky.

• Enter
• Salad course
• Meal course
• Our cake is our dessert, so cut the cake?
• Serve cake?
• Pause, break down tables.
• Formal dances while half the folks stand around with no tables? (we're leaving the chairs on the edges)
• Start the par-tay

Yuck.

This will be the energy level for our dancing!

After two looooooong emails to our caterer & DJ (the two folks who had made this sound all hunky dory), I think we've worked it out as follows.

• Enter
• Salad
• Meal
• Serve & Clear two/three strategic tables first, the head table (they can go mingle) and the siblings table (bc well, you can kick your sibs out of their seats)
• While the other tables are finishing eating/taking a break/restroom, etc. breakdown the two now empty tables and make a dance floor -- They said it takes ~10 mins.
• First dance/father daughter
• Start the par-tay
• After 45 mins or so, stop the par-tay to cut/serve cake
• Back to dancing...

Better? Or still awkward? Help!!!!!!!

Changing our minds and tablecloths

We finished our little kelly & lime green tissue poms tonight (finally!) and I had the thought that we should double check the color against the tablecloth we had picked out.

I am G.L.A.D. that we did...

Emerald Shimmer, the original choice. It's pretty in bright light, but in dull light, it looks almost... brown.

Seeing the poms against this tablecloth was a total and complete fail. So we asked to see all other green tablecloths.

The new choice. Granny smith! It's so bright! But looks GREAT with the colored poms and has a nice silver sheen. I think it'll really brighten up the room and looks really spring-y. I'm pretty excited with the change. Though seeing the huge piece of bright green fabric was a little overwhelming! (*It looked far more reasonable with the plates, flatware, and glassware on it.)

So after the linen change... we thought about our chairs. We had initially picked light wood chairs, to use for the ceremony and then the reception. With the darkish cloth, the darker chairs made more sense. But now...

I think the white will, number one, look way better outside on the lawn and number two work with the cheerier linens to brighten up and spring-ize the space.
